Joomla Canonical URL & Redirect Manager

Overview

TTB Canonical & Redirect Manager gives Joomla administrators a focused way to keep canonical URLs clean and redirect legacy paths without editing Joomla core files or server configuration.

What it does

• Adds one clean canonical URL to normal HTML frontend pages.
• Removes only explicitly configured tracking/query parameters from canonical URLs and preserves unknown parameters by default.
• Supports optional cleanup redirects for configured tracking parameters.
• Supports Exact and Prefix redirect rules with HTTP 301 or 302.
• Applies redirect rules before Joomla routing so missing legacy paths can redirect instead of falling through to 404.
• Limits redirect handling to GET/HEAD requests.
• Includes loop/chain protection, Canonical Preview and a local audit trail of applied redirects.
• Does not modify Joomla core files.

Installation

1. Upload the ZIP in Joomla Administrator > System > Install > Extensions.
2. Enable System - TTB Canonical & Redirect Manager if it is not already enabled.
3. Open Components > TTB Canonical & Redirect Manager.
4. Review Options and use Canonical Preview with a temporary URL first.
5. Test new redirect rules with 302 before switching permanent redirects to 301.

Requirements

• Live tested on Joomla 5.4.7.
• Joomla 6.x is an intended compatibility target; live runtime validation is still pending.
• PHP 8.1 or newer is recommended.

Important

Redirect and canonical rules can affect navigation and indexing. Test changes on temporary paths first and use 301 only when the destination is intended to be permanent.
