Joomla SMTP Test & Mail Monitor Extension

Overview

TTB Mail Monitor / SMTP gives Joomla administrators a focused mail-diagnostics workspace without storing separate SMTP credentials. It sends real test messages through Joomla's active mailer and keeps a lightweight local audit trail for controlled diagnostics.

What it does

• Sends a real test email through Joomla's currently configured mailer.
• Records successful and failed test sends with the returned diagnostic result.
• Observes Joomla MailTemplate activity through the official mail rendering event.
• Shows non-secret Joomla mail configuration such as mailer, host, port, security and authentication state.
• Never displays or writes the SMTP password to the activity log.
• Supports optional recipient masking and configurable local log retention.
• Exports the activity log as CSV and provides one-click log cleanup.
• Stores logs locally and does not modify Joomla core files.

Installation

1. Upload the ZIP in Joomla Administrator > System > Install > Extensions.
2. Enable System - TTB Mail Monitor in Joomla Plugins.
3. Open Components > TTB Mail Monitor / SMTP.
4. Send a test email to confirm the site's active Joomla mail configuration.
5. Review recipient masking and retention in component Options before production use.

Requirements

• Joomla 5.x or Joomla 6.x target environment.
• A working Joomla mail configuration for successful delivery tests.
• Live Joomla 5.4.7 administrator testing confirmed successful Joomla mailer test sends.

Important

A MailTemplate event marked observed means the message reached Joomla's template-rendering stage; it does not by itself prove transport delivery. Delivery success/failure is authoritative only for test sends initiated by TTB Mail Monitor because the component controls that send call and can capture the returned result. SMTP passwords and message bodies are not stored.
